      Good question 🙂

I think it is important as our current understanding of how much water the Earth has requires some water to have been added from elsewhere. So knowing how much water is in space rocks and also it’s chemical ‘fingerprint’ can be very useful in understanding how water made its way to Earth. Water is also very important for life so finding lots of water gives us a good place to look for other forms of life.
