A lot of it is down to practice. I was not particularly good (and still not great) before I started singing with my band as well as playing bass.

Singing is a complex act that involves good coordination between parts of your body like your brain, ears, throat and lungs. To be a successful singer, you need to accurately perceive a note and match it using your vocal muscles.

However the actual shape of your vocal tracts can determine the quality of your voice. That means it’s possible that you can be born with a great set of pipes, but what will eventually separate you from the pack is practice.

But all hope isn’t lost. Most people can probably be trained to be better singers.

      Are you good at singing?

Good question. I envy people who can sing! lol. My voice is terrible. Doesn’t stop me singing though. :-).
Some just have it naturally and I’ll put that down to genes / inheritance but I also know people who voice train and get good at it so I guess you can learn it too. I hear a lot is to do with breathing.
