Your body finds it easy to get energy from sugar, so if you eat sweets or sugary foods then you will probably find you have a lot of energy for a little while! When your body recognises that you’ve had a lot of sugar, it produces a hormone called insulin, which moves the sugar from your blood into the cells in your body – this is how too much sugar can make you put on weight! Unfortunately, sometimes the levels of sugar in your blood drop too quickly, and that’s what makes you feel tired, and sometimes a bit weak and shaky. It is fine to have some sugar in your diet, as long as you’re not having lots and lots of it! 🙂
