      @Darcy
      I became a scientist mainly because I had a really great supervisor during my time at university who loved research and made it enjoyable for me too. Once I graduated and tried it out for myself in my first job there was no going back. It’s fulfilling to have questions and be able to find answers to them (or atleast try). Science just simply has the answers and makes sense of almost everything.

      Hey.

      I have always wanted to do research and find something new. It is a wonderful feeling to the be first person to ever know something. I also really want to pass on this knowledge to other people. My Dad teaches at University and I think I got that from him.

      To be able to discover something and then teach people about it is why I became a scientist.

      I became a scientist because it is so exciting!

      Each day is different; I could either be in the lab, at the beach or in the office writing up my results!

      I am also really passionate about my subject, where I am researching about plastic pollution in the ocean.
      Have you ever been to the beach and seen plastic litter like a plastic bottle or a carrier bag? I hate seeing all this pollution!

      Hopefully my research will be used to show all the negative effects plastic can have within the marine environment, so that we can make it a cleaner and safer place for the future!

      I became a scientist because I love finding out new things – it’s the perfect job for people who want to know more about the world we live in. The process of research is really fun, and it’s awesome to see results from something you’ve worked on for a long time. It’s even better if those results tell us something new that no one knew about before!
