Did you know the cells in the body can talk to each other and all have to work together in a team for the body to function properly. It’s called cell signalling and I find it really intersting that these tiny components of the body also communicate to function. If there is a break in the communication, things start going wrong.

Cheesy quote: “team work makes the dream work” lol!

Your brain works by sending electrical messages along pathways from cell to cell. These brain cells are called neurons. Different parts of your brain work together to do different jobs, so there is an area of our brain responsible for movement, an area responsible for sight, and so on. These neurons in your brain can get damaged – for example, if someone has a bad head injury, and this can mean the pathways for sending the messages get broken. Sometimes though, the brain can repair itself, so if one part gets damaged and the pathway gets broken, new cells can grow to bypass the damaged part of your brain – almost like rewiring the broken pathway. This can take a long time and only happens in some brain areas, but I still think it’s pretty awesome that the brain can sometimes fix itself!
