Your brain is made up of cells called neurons. These neurons are linked together by something called synapses. This makes pathways, and the neurons send electrical messages down these pathways which tell your body to do things, like move, or breathe. Everyone’s brain works in this way, whether they are a child or an adult 🙂

The main difference is that the brain as a whole develops as we grow up, so there are more neurons and more synapses and pathways, and this means we can do lots more things! Because of this, our brains get a bit bigger as we grow from a child into a teenager. Some people think our brains are still developing until the age of 26!
